Holistic Family Practice entails providing the patient with a wider variety of complementary therapies that have valid scientific research, for the treatment of certain medical conditions. These conditions are usually of a chronic or functional nature, or else have exhausted traditional medical treatments with little relief or cure. These therapies are chosen due to their scientific research, their lack of side effects and because they work well together.

Relieving your pain or eliminating your symptoms is just the beginning- our goal is to treat your whole person and to work together with you in achieving optimal health and wellness.

These treatments of an alternative or complementary nature are integrated into the scope of treatment modalities which are offered to the patient at an office visit. Depending on the preference of the patient a joint decision is made as to the course of treatment followed.

Often  in the course of treatment several different therapy modalities will be combined at one time for greater efficacy. The nature of the specific therapies will be chosen according to patient prefference.

Family practice encompasses the range of traditional medical care including acute and urgent care, for example acute injuries, infections, sudden onset of pain, or worsening of long standing medical conditions. Treatments here may involve hospital admission if the condition is severe enough. It also encompasses treatment of chronic medical conditions in an outpatient setting. Usually there is no immediate cure. Examples of therapies include the full range of pharmacological medications, conservative physical therapies, and surgery. Should the medical condition not be relieved by conventional medical treatments we are able to provide complementary physician directed activities which may assist in the healing process.

The doctor-patient relationship is a cornerstone of the therapy process and trust, education and follow up are important ingredients.

Acupuncture is a method of contacting and stimulating the body’s natural healing systems to improve health and functioning. A treatment is accomplished by the insertion of very fine, single-use disposable needles into specifically chosen points on the body. Sometimes heat of mild electrical stimulation is applied to the needles during a treatment session.

There are three main categories of treatment for medical conditions as defined by the World health organization;

Firstly in the management and control of pain. These conditions include acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, post herpetic neuralgia, headaches, back pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica, and osteoarthritis.

Secondly disorders classified as premorbid or functional states. These are conditions without organic manifestation. They include; fatigue, depression, anxiety, bowel dysfunction, recurrent infections, decreased libido, physical problems related to stress.

Thirdly it may be used as an adjunct to other medical treatments; please call for a more definitive list!

Medical acupuncture is acupuncture that has been successfully incorporated into medical or allied health practices in Western countries. It is derived from both Asian and European sources.

Medical acupuncture is done by a trained physician, has very few side effects and works independent of whether you believe in it or not.

  Guidance of the physician is essential in many cases to simplify the information which is presented to the lay public about the effectiveness of many therapies, vitamins or supplements. The patient-physician relationship is viewed as a partnership in which the patient assumes a joint responsibility in his or her health care.    Fees for medical acupuncture are as follows: Single treatment $75.
4-pack: $70 per treatment. Total $280.
6-pack:$65 per treatment. Total $390.
12-pack: $60 per treatment. Total $720.
We recommend a 4 or 6 pack usually and evaluate response. All payments are requested in advance prior to treatment initiation.
